Similar to an identity card, all technical products and equipment used in one of the CIS countries (Commonwealth of Independent States: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan) have a so-called “technical passport”. Why a technical passport is required and what is behind it is explained in more detail below.
Pre-requisite for an EAC certification
In contrast to the EAC or metrological certificate, the technical passport may be issued directly by the manufacturer of the product. No previous audits or certification processes are necessary. EAC standardisation describes the need for a technical passport. Measurement technology which falls under these EAC standards can therefore only be used in the Eurasian Economic Zone in conjunction with the technical passport. The technical standards of the remaining CIS countries also require the issuing of a technical passport for technical products and equipment. The manufacturer hands over the technical passport to the operator of the product or equipment. The technical passport accompanies the associated product throughout the entire lifecycle. Repairs, recalibrations of measuring equipment or maintenance work can be documented in the technical passport.
Discount of a technical passport
A technical passport must be issued in Russian language and contains the following information at the very least:
Basic information about the product (intended use, data sheet number, certificates, registrations, manufacturer, etc.)
Product specifications and technical data (accuracy specifications for measuring instruments, IP ingress protection, weight, dimensions, transport conditions, etc.)
Scope of delivery
Serial number, TAG number
Notes on quality control and production standards and also the signature of the quality representative
Warranty duration and conditions
For measuring instruments: Recalibration interval
Each technical passport is unique and must therefore be issued individually for each article. A technical passport is not compulsory for importing a technical product into one of the CIS countries, but is required (at the latest) when commissioning the system or product in the destination country.
