The National Research Office (NRO), underneath the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation in Thailand, announced it helps the switch of durian manufacturing technology and ripening inhibition expertise.
Model is particularly for the native “Lap Lae Durian,” which aims to help export Thai durians to the international market. The move was initiated by Wiparat Dee-Ohng, Director of the NRO, instructing the NRO’s Information and PR group to lead a bunch of journalists to go to a research challenge space related to “Knowledge Management and Transferring Durian Production Technology for Commercial Use in Lower Northern areas.”
As part of the challenge, a team of researchers from Naresuan University, led by Associate Professor DR Peerasak Chaiyprasat, is working to increase the potential and commonplace of local durian varieties in quality inspection. This will set up them as prepared for future export, offering information that farmers can adapt to their practices to produce quality merchandise. The analysis was carried out on the Lap Lae Durian Orchard in Lap Lae district, Uttaradit province.
One necessary facet is the delay in the ripening of the trimmed durian for consumption. The bundle should be specially designed to keep it recent for a very long time, secure for shoppers, free from contamination or poisonous residues, and meet international requirements, reported KhaoSod.
The venture has demonstrated success by extending the shelf life of ready durian products to 28 days at a temperature of 5 degrees Celsius. This prolonged shelf-life presents the potential for exporting trimmed durian merchandise, thereby rising earnings for farmers, revitalising the economy, and enhancing the competitiveness of exporters total.
During the go to, Supap Panlap, or Jib, owner of the Lin Laplae Durian Orchard, performed host together with the researchers led by Associate Professor Dr Peerasak. The orchard grows several kinds of durian, specifically Lin Laplae, Lhong Laplae, and Mhorn Thong, which originate from Jib’s grandfather, Lin Poomlad, known as the origin of the famous “Lin Laplae Durian” of Laplae Town.
The famed Lin Laplae Durian Orchard also benefits from the knowledge and manufacturing and ripening inhibition applied sciences for durians from this research venture..
